Unexpected Knowledge

Unexpected Knowledge - minor details found in books, films, music, etc., that may not directly influence the theme or meaning of a work, but maybe conducive to bringing about character, or background to a character or event.

Laymen Terms: Small or almost irrelevant information in bodies of work that may intrigue you.

This week’s “Unexpected Knowledge” stem from the novel Single Husbands by Honey B (Mary B. Morrison). Single Husbands is a novel centered around three financially sound husbands who experience countless extra-marital sexcapades but soon have to deal with the consequences which, in some situations, ended friendships and marriages.

Unexpected Ideas/Facts:

n Oiling your body after you shower, but before you dry off.

o When I read the book, many of the characters saturated their body in oils before patting dry. I was used to oiling or moisturizing after I dried off, didn’t realize the supple and great skin health associated with this action. Trapping the moisture into your skin while enriching the surface makes sense.

n Men and Alcohol

o One of the characters in the book was a well known chef that prepared meals to enhance sexual arousal.

“Excessive alcohol consumption by men was courage juice, ego boosters, and in some cases, performance busters instantly creating erectile dysfunction...alcohol decreased a male’s testosterone level, thereby decreasing his sex drive.”

BlyssNote:

If you are open-minded, and not offended by sexually explicit material, I suggest you give it a read. The idealism behind some of the characters brings many different perspectives to relationships and marriages in general. Honey B will not disappoint you. The rollercoaster ride of emotion, sex, and dilemma leaves you with a whole new aspect on life. This book is one of many; click on the link below to view more of her works.
